Ahh, who am I kidding?

I'm gonna be here (the Mac Lab at SAU Tech) for a while and I might as well tell you why.

In about eight hours, Steve (my long-time instructor, friend, and mentor) will be picking me up en route to Little Rock. I am going to the invitation-only Annual Arkansas Film Commision Meeting. Big people will be there.

Steve, correctly, thought it would be insanely foolish for me to go up there without a portfolio, so I am making one in a rush. I've been meaning to do so for a while but I work two jobs and I'm a full-time college student. You know the story.

It's taking a hell of a lot longer than I thought (as always), and my phone has gone dead. I had promised Rachel that I would call her back, and I hope she isn't worried about about me.

I hope you are doing well in body, mind, and especially spirit.

Light and Life,
Neal

The other day, on my way to work, at a stop light, a boy in his early teens caught me singing along (quite vigorously) to my music.

I paused, staring back at him, not knowing if I should've been embarassed or not.

Breaking the visual silence, he smiled warmly.

I smiled back.

Peace to all,
Neal

"Beyond the senses is the mind, and beyond the mind is reason, its essence.  Beyond reason is the Spirit in man, and beyond this is the Spirit of the universe, the evolver of all."

"In Him are woven the sky and earth and all regions of the air, and in Him rests the mind and all the powers of life.  Know Him as the One and leave aside all other words.  He is the bridge of immortality."

"With our hearts purged of all hate, let us worship the Eternal. Our God is the Lord of prayer; he hears the cry of his children. Let all men submit their wills to him, the Resolute. Let us delight in the liberality of the Lord of prayer. Make prayer your inmost friend and worship your soul's support. `If you will but worship me in love,' says the Eternal, `I will give you the wisdom to attain me, for my worship is the virtue common to all creatures.'"

"The creature cannot escape the presence of the Creator. The Lord even counts the ceaseless winking of every mortal's eyes; and we worship this divine Being as our inseparable companion. He is all-prevailing, bountiful, omnipresent, and infinitely kind. The Lord is our ruler, shelter, and supreme controller, and his primeval spirit dwells within the mortal soul. The Eternal Witness to vice and virtue dwells within man's heart. Let us long meditate on the adorable and divine Vivifier; let his spirit fully direct our thoughts. From this unreal world lead us to the real! From darkness lead us to the light! From death guide us to immortality!"

We humans live in a very paradoxical and complex condition.

History is the unfolding of our gradual attainment of complete understanding of this condition.

Stories are, or should be, a reflection on this gradual understanding.

God and man be with you all,

Neal

Hello, my people!!!

Things are going well in Clarenceland. I am in the lab looking at the commercial I just finished animating. I am very pleased but I can't decide if I sould have music or not. Oh, well. I am swamped with work, but it's all good, for "he who serves his brother serves God himself". I really hope I don't end up working in TV for the rest of my life. I want to make FILMS! I thought I was doing this for a reason. I am, but it can be easy to get short-sighted sometimes.

I just wish I could be helming the big-budget things, injecting the meanings and values into the quotidian, but I know that even if I were so lucky, I am not ready.

"The goal of any art should be, by its illusions, to forshadow a higher universe reality, to crystalize the emotions of time into the thought of eternity."

I love you, Rachel.
(:
